A Walk in the Park

Just when I was about to swap out all my pants for shorts, it suddenly got cooler out again and it was time to pile on the layers. This cream-coloured cable-knit sweater has become quite the transition item though. I can't wait to pair it with a pretty pleated skirt like this one when spring actually comes.

This t-shirt was a random gift from Steve; one of those I just wanted to do something nice for you gifts, which in my opinion is the best kind. It's by far the softest tee in my closet, and it's colour is putting me in the mood for spring. He did good. 

Oscar Faves

This year I managed to stay awake until the very end of the awards ceremony (yay for watching it on west coast time). My favourite Oscar moments: the suggestive Scorsese/Hugo drinking game, the incredible Cirque de Soleil performance, and Meryl Streep's acceptance speech. I was not overly impressed with the turnout of beautiful gowns, but these three definitely caught my attention. I loved Michelle Williams' bright coral, peplum Louis Vuitton dress, except for the tiny silver bow pinned to her waistline. A firm believer in the expression, "less is more" I found the brooch to be distracting from the dress's own brilliance. Cameron Diaz's Gucci gown fit her to a tee and the subtle sequins made it completely Oscar appropriate and Milla Jovovich's couture Ellie Saab gown was a safe, yet classic choice for her first Oscar appearance. Which star's style were you swooning over? 

When Old Becomes New

It's been pleasantly warm out lately, so I'm taking advantage and ditching my tights in favour of bare legs. I bought this dress last summer from Zara, and now somehow there seems to be an exact replica of it at Urban Outfitters. Some style stealing is going on there for sure. I'm not complaining though. My last season's dress just became new again! Don't you love when that happens?

Afternoon Craving

Warm weather has the instant effect of making me want ice cream, so we ventured out (walked across the street) in search of an afternoon dessert. This mint-chocolate chip milkshake fulfilled all cravings and I walked home afterwards wishing the walk was a little longer.

I love how a good blazer can pretty much make anything feel pulled together. This black one has become a staple for me, but I'm thinking a brighter one like this might be a nice addition to my closet.

I bought this jacket before moving to SF and it has since been the wisest thing I packed in my suitcase. Aside from it's obvious warmth factor to combat the cool winds, it's also incredibly versatile. I love the subdued edge it gives off when paired with a couple feminine pieces.

I'll be the first to admit that I'm loving the asymmetrical skirt trend. It just makes me want to go out dancing. It sways nicely in the wind and it's the perfect accessory to a really great pair of heels. This one is also on my shopping list.

I love the late afternoon, when the sun is setting, but you can still feel it's warmth in the peaks of light. I bought this skirt thinking I would enjoy its longer hemline for a while and shorten it later for a refreshed look. I don't think I'm ready to say goodbye just yet though. 

Reverting to Childhood

I almost bought one of these bracelets for $5.00 the other day. Then I remembered I used to make these as a kid and thought how hard could it be? Try it for yourself! All you need is some embroidery thread and a little bit of patience.

Once you get the hang of it, you can try more complex patterns. You'll find lots of different styles here. 

It's Raining Stripes

I know, I know... it's Feb 14th and I'm wearing green.  We're celebrating lovey-dovey V-day tomorrow, at which point I fully intend to be decked out in pink and or red. In the meantime, stripes are my date. Hope you're having a very happy Valentine's Day!

Cherry Blossoms

Beautiful Cherry Blossom tress line the streets outside our apartment. I often find that the colours of my surroundings, much like the seasons, influence what I pull out of my closet and these trees definitely called for some feminine brights! I've also been searching for the perfect pair of red skinnies for the longest time, so when I finally found these last week I couldn't wait to try them out.
